1. The short version

This website collects as little as possible. There are no accounts, no contact forms and no newsletters — and no analytics cookies unless you say yes.

2. Who is responsible

The data controller for this website is 1939 Bistro Bar and Pizzeria, Xewkija, Gozo, Malta, reachable on +356 2156 2892.

3. Cookies and analytics

When you first visit, a banner asks whether we may use Google Analytics. If you accept, Google Analytics (with IP anonymisation) sets cookies that help us understand which pages visitors use. If you reject, no analytics runs at all — the site works exactly the same. Your choice is remembered in your browser's local storage under the key "cookie-consent", and you can change it at any time via the "Cookie preferences" link in the footer.

4. Embedded maps

Our location section embeds Google Maps. When the map loads, your browser talks to Google, which may set its own cookies and process data under the Google Privacy Policy.

5. Outbound links

Buttons and links to Facebook, WhatsApp and delivery platforms take you to those services in a new tab; from that point their privacy policies apply, not ours.

6. Hosting logs

Like almost every website, our hosting provider may keep short-lived technical logs (such as IP addresses) for security and stability. We do not use these to identify visitors.

7. Legal bases and retention

Analytics runs only on your consent (GDPR Art. 6(1)(a)); the technical operation of the site rests on our legitimate interest in presenting our business (Art. 6(1)(f)). Analytics data is retained according to Google Analytics' standard retention settings; your consent choice stays in your browser until you clear it.

8. Your rights

Under the GDPR you may request access to, correction or deletion of your personal data, object to or restrict its processing, withdraw consent at any time, and complain to the Information and Data Protection Commissioner (IDPC) in Malta at idpc.org.mt.
